The word anxiety is now more used than ever with the rapidly changing world, but few appreciate the depth of meaning or its implications. Anxiety is the body’s reaction to it being in a situation where the person has little control or knowledge of what is happening or how to cope with it so it pushes us into the flight, fight or freeze situation. It can range from feeling a bit worried about things to being unable to function on a daily basis and being afraid of everything, even themselves. People can feel embarrassed and ashamed to admit they are struggling so keep it bottled up which in turn increases the anxiety and sometimes manifests itself in physical symptoms – these are then treated medically but the cause remains until its acknowledged.
Counselling provides the person with the opportunity to talk about the cause and help the person to rationalise their fears and learn ways to control the anxiety.
Each session costs £45 for an hour with a face to face qualified approved anxiety counsellor.

The death of a loved one – human or animal, will affect all of us one day yet it’s still the most un-talked about part of life in our society today. The grief that follows can consume the lives of those left behind yet people even with friends and family around them feel that they are totally alone with their thoughts and feelings having to ‘get over it’ and ‘move on’ because that’s what people do. My experience of working with people who have or are experiencing a loss, have said that the thing that has helped them has been the possibility of being able to talk about their loved ones without fear of upsetting those around them with someone who listens and ‘gets what they need’ and just having that space helps them get through each day.
This is where counselling comes in. People are given the precious time for them to talk or cry and work through their pain with a counsellor who is there unconditionally.
Each session costs £45 for an hour with a face to face qualified bereavement counsellor.
Stress is an everyday occurrence these days and most of the time we deal with it successfully through changing our lives or habits, however there are times when it becomes overwhelming and unmanageable and can lead to more severe physical and mental problems. There are a number of ways of dealing with it; mindfulness, medication, stress apps and talking – this is where counselling can help. Person Centred Counselling provides you with a talking therapy in a private space with someone who listens and provides you with support to help you take a step back and breathe again. There is also a more severe form of stress known as PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) which can come from any traumatic experience not just war and affects everyone differently.
Counselling can offer a number of different options for helping you deal with this and it all starts with building a trustworthy relationship and talking.

My name is Chris and I am a qualified person centred counsellor who, having experienced the benefits of counselling myself, wanted to pass those benefits on to others. Life can be difficult at times for many reasons often making you feel like you are the only one who feels like that so cannot share with anyone else. Counselling can provide you with a safe space and time to off load, for example if you are experiencing stress or anxiety, going through bereavement and loss, self-harming, experiencing domestic abuse, having suicidal thoughts – or many other issues, having someone who can empathise unconditionally can make a difference to help you deal with every day and be able to look to the future. It takes a lot of courage to even start considering seeking help and I know how difficult it is to take the first step, so congratulations on being here.
Sometimes it’s difficult to know whether counselling is right for you or not, that’s why I offer a free, no obligation 15 minute telephone consultation for anyone who has uncertainties or questions about therapy and would like a space to talk them through. To book either a free consultation or your first therapy session you can telephone or send an email and I will respond within 24 hrs.
It may be that you will only need to have a short number of sessions and this does work well for many people, in my experience. Alternatively, it may be evident that a longer period of counselling is required, in order to reach your desired goals and this is something that we can discuss as we go along.
Chris immediately made me feel at ease, so I could be open and honest, she gave me a number of techniques to try out for my anxiety and was very quick to finding alternatives if I didn’t feel they were right for me. I would describe her as friendly, empathetic and kind. I am in a much better place thanks to her help. Cannot recommend her enough!
